The Boston Red Sox fended off multiple comeback attempts by the Baltimore Orioles en route to a thrilling 12-10 victory.

Boston used eight total pitchers in the bullpen game that began with southpaw reliever Brennan Bernardino and ended with sturdy closer Kenley Jansen. The offense jumped on ace Corbin Burnes early, putting up eight runs in the first four innings and never looking back.

What are the main takeaways from Boston's game two win over Baltimore?

    Masataka Yoshida has arrived...again

OF/DH Masataka Yoshida has been the center of loads of criticism from the fanbase following his struggles to both end the 2023 season and begin the 2024 season. The Japanese legend inked a nine-figure contract two offseasons ago and is (once again) proving why he is the elite offensive contributor the team signed.

Yoshida hit his eighth HR of the year and tallied three hits and four RBIs in a strong offensive effort. Even after his slow start to the year, his average and OPS have risen to .291 and .795 respectively; both above-average marks. He's become arguably the steadiest player in the Boston lineup since the middle of June and is a major reason behind why the team is still in the thick of a playoff race.

What is happening to Luis Garcia?

The Luis Garcia situation is an increasingly concerning and mesmerizing one. The 37-year-old reliever surrendered just four long balls in 43.2 innings with the Los Angeles Angels but has allowed the same amount in Boston in just 7.2 innings.

Fellow trade acquisition Lucas Sims has done his part in anchoring the bullpen, but to this point, Garcia has been a major miss. With the bullpen continuing to be a hot mess seemingly every night, pitching coach Andrew Bailey desperately needs to find a solution to Garcia's woes and fast.

    Outwit, Outplay, Outlast

The slogan for the popular reality TV series Survivor has become perfectly synonymous with the 2024 Boston Red Sox. Every win is a dogfight and requires the performance of just about everyone on the roster.

Manager Alex Cora has expressed his high level of belief in the team's chances to make the playoffs and do some damage, and if there's anything certain about this team it's that they will fight to the very end.

The Red Sox are now 64-57 on the season.

    Game 3

The Red Sox face the Baltimore Orioles in the penultimate game of their four-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 PM EST at Camden Yards, televised on NESN.
