Stephen Curry Elite in Grade School?

    By Lance Roberson,

Stephen Curry is the only unanimous MVP in NBA history, a four-time champion, another MVP to go along with his unanimous one, and a part of the 75th Anniversary Team. He is also the NBA's all-time leader in three-point shots made. Yet, somehow, his legend occurred before he wore the Golden State Warriors jersey.

Eddie Johnson, the color analyst for the Phoenix Suns, recalled when a seven-year-old Curry almost beat him.

Apr 16, 2024; Sacramento, California, USA; Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry (30) talks with teammates after a play against the Sacramento Kings in the second quarter during a play-in game of the 2024 NBA playoffs at the Golden 1 Center.

During Dell's Charlotte Hornets days, Johnson was his teammate. Dell told Johnson that Curry would beat him. From what Johnson recalls , Curry went up 7-0 on an NBA veteran. As ego and pride set in, Johnson went "old man style" and proceeded to post up seven-year-old Curry until the Hornets veteran won.

Johnson claimed they played at Dell's house on an outside goal with a rough rim.

Curry's knowledge of the game is hard to beat. Dell took his son virtually everywhere, allowing his son the experience necessary to thrive against NBA players. For an NBA player to claim near defeat at the hands of a seven-year veteran alludes to a once-in-a-lifetime talent.

Curry is in his twilight years of an NBA career but magically produced one of the more memorable Olympic performances at 36. Curry is a made man regardless of what the Warriors achieve this season. However, the Warriors superstar doesn't want to live off the past; as he recently stated, he isn't suited for playing in obscurity.

Not many people can say their legend began at seven, but again, Curry is genuinely the exception to the rule.
