U.S. Sprinter Gabby Thomas Delivers Stern Defense of Sha'carri Richardson

While fans should be celebrating the overwhelming success of United State sprinters Gabby Thomas and Sha'carri Richardson, some are instead choosing to pit them against each other.

There are some who feel Thomas should replace Richardson as the new "face" of United States track and field.

Thomas is clearly fed up with these unnecessary comparisons.

Seemingly in response to the discussion surrounding her and Richardson, Thomas took to social media with a stern message.

"Just a friendly reminder that you can uplift one woman without bringing down the other," she wrote as the caption to a TikTok video.

Thomas and Richardson were teammates on the American 4x100 squad that won gold in Paris.

“I don’t hear anybody else but Gabby," Richardson said of her teammate after the race. "If it’s not her voice, I can’t hear it. Everything else is a blur. Gabby’s voice automatically sends me into a place of determination and it sends me into a place of I know what time it is."

Thomas won three gold medals in Paris: 4x100, 4x400 and 200 meter. In addition to her 4x100 gold, Richardson won a silver medal in the 100 meter.
