Jon Rahm's Rumored 'Deep Regret' Splits Fans

Jon Rahm is among the many former PGA Tour stars who are now playing under the Saudi Arabian-financed LIV Golf. Late last July, the Spaniard won his first-ever tournament with the organization when he topped the field at LIV Golf U.K., which was held at JCB Golf & Country Club.

Even with Rahm’s victory across the pond and a recent T-4 at LIV Golf Greenbrier, there is a rumor going around that he is not happy with his current golf situation at LIV Golf.

That rumor appears to have been sparked by a published feature on Golf Digest by Jaime Diaz.

According to Diaz, a veteran PGA Tour insider said that Rahm is dealing with “deep regret” over the decision to move to LIV Golf.

“I am 100 percent positive that if Jon could give the money back to the Saudis and come back to the tour, he couldn’t write the check fast enough,” Diaz’s source said.

“Now there are only four times a year when he’s playing that anybody is remotely interested. He thought his stature in the game was secure no matter where he was playing, and it was a bad miscalculation.”

NUCLR GOLF reposted that sentiment by Diaz’s source early Saturday and immediately garnered plenty of reactions from golf fans. Many seem to believe the rumor, while others doubt its veracity.

“I guess he hasn’t seen crowds at LIV recently. Lots of people are watching LIV”

“I believe he thought his leaving would be a catalyst for merger. That hasn’t been the case.”

“Whatever…stop whining-lots of people do things for money they didn’t necessarily want to do…the difference is he got $400M or whatever it was to play golf…he’ll get over it!”

“Seems like the kind of guy who’s never truly happy.”

    “Complete horse s–t,” said X user @ScottNoComply.

“All the LIV guys knew it would be an uphill battle and they knowingly made the decision and took the money Now you want us to believe they don’t want the money and they’ve forgotten all their concerns about the PGA?”

“Jaime Diaz is a moron and shouldn’t be listened to. Between he and Brandy Chamblee, they are golf’s version of FAKE NEWS.”

    “He is right”

    “100% False”

The 29-year-old Rahm bared his decision to switch from PGA Tour to LIV Golf last December for a contract worth $350 million, per ESPN .

A two-time major champion – having won the US Open in 2021 and the Green Jacket at the 2023 Masters Tournament – Rahm remains one of golf’s biggest stars despite his early struggles to find his top form with LIV Golf.
