Report: Vikings worked out 2 other quarterbacks before signing Matt Corral

The Minnesota Vikings added depth to their quarterback room by signing Matt Corral on Friday but they also worked out two different quarterbacks, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston .
Ben Bryant and Jacob Sirmon worked out for the Vikings last week as Minnesota looked to add another quarterback following J.J. McCarthy's season-ending knee injury suffered in last Saturday's preseason win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Vikings also worked out wide receiver Justin Hall, who spent this spring catching 56 passes, 603 yards and three touchdowns with the Houston Roughnecks of the UFL.
Sirmon was a former quarterback at Washington from 2018-20 before transferring to Central Michigan in 2021 and playing for Northern Colorado in 2022. Sirmon was a rookie camp invite by the Cleveland Browns this past offseason but was not offered a contract.
Meanwhile, Bryant was an undrafted free agent who played for Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan and Northwestern during his career and he completed 62.5% of his passes with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions in nine games for the Wildcats last season.
But the Vikings ultimately decided to sign Corral, who was a third-round pick (94th overall) by the Carolina Panthers in the 2022 draft but has not played in an official game in his NFL career.
Corral also spent last season in the UFL, throwing for 494 yards and two touchdowns as part of a two-quarterback system to lead the Birmingham Stallions to the UFL title.
The signing of Corral is unlikely to be a major development for the Vikings in 2024. Sam Darnold is set to begin the year as a starter but McCarthy's injury left Minnesota down a quarterback for the final two preseason games.
With Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall on the roster, Corral has an uphill battle to make the team. But it's clear the Vikings kept their eyes open as they look to get through this season without their quarterback of the future.
