Shelomi Sanders, the youngest daughter of Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, chose to leave the University of Colorado and transfer to Alabama A&M, where she will be joining the women’s basketball team. This move marks a major moment in her collegiate career as she seeks an environment better suited to her needs and aspirations.

Shelomi’s decision to transfer was not without challenges, particularly as it went against her father’s advice. Deion Sanders openly criticized the move, calling it “stupid” and emphasizing his belief in traditional family dynamics, where children should follow the lead of their parents. Despite this, Shelomi felt it was crucial to step out of her father’s shadow and pursue her path.

In a recent interview, Shelomi revealed that her time in Colorado was marked by challenges, but thanks to a conversation with her mother, Pilar Sanders, she felt it was time to move on. “I don’t want to say anything too bad,” Sanders mentioned during the livestream . “It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”

Shelomi started her college career at Jackson State, following a successful senior season at Rockwell-Heath High School in 2022, where she averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. Now at Alabama A&M, Shelomi looks forward to thriving under the guidance of Coach Dawn Thornton, with two years of eligibility remaining to make her mark.
