The Cleveland Browns are heading into a pivotal season for the franchise. They have the opportunity to make the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in 35 years.

One player that may make a big impact on the field for the Browns this year is fifth-round rookie receiver Jamari Thrash. The former Louisville Cardinal has made quite the impression during training camp and could see increased snaps during the preseason.

Browns backup quarterback Jameis Winston, who won’t be playing today, bragged on the rookie and his adjustment to the NFL.

"It's always great seeing young guys when it finally clicks,” Winston said. “I was very impressed with him, and I just want to continue to build on that."

Cleveland team writer Patrick Warren picked Thrash as a player to keep your eye on in the Browns matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

"While he won't be playing with (Deshaun) Watson or Winston on Saturday, Thrash and Thompson-Robinson are good friends off the field,” writes Warren. “Thompson-Robinson said he thinks their friendship helps their connection on the field despite not having many reps together in practice.

“This weekend's game should provide several opportunities for the friends to make something happen on the field."

The Browns are going to give Thrash - who we'll call "the rookie to watch'' - a lot of snaps in tonight’s game as coaches look to hash out the bottom of the roster and let their rookies shine.

The Browns and Vikings will kickoff at 6:00 p.m. at Cleveland Browns Stadium tonight.
