Alabama enters the 2024 season with multiple question marks in different spots, but at the sport's most important position, they have their most influential answer.

Jalen Milroe will undoubtedly start the season as the Crimson Tide's quarterback, signal caller, and all-around leader following his triumphant second half of 2023.

The former four-star is living up to his ranking and is in line to burst even more onto the national scene this fall under offensive mastermind Kalen DeBoer . Still, there was a time when Milroe didn't believe he would end up in Tuscaloosa.

Ranked as the No. 14 quarterback in the 2021 class, Milroe was committed to his home state university, Texas. He planned on suiting up for the Longhorns but ultimately flipped his commitment.

On an interview with Bussin' With the Boys , Milroe detailed how the most legendary recruiter in the history of the sport changed his mind.

"I was committed to Texas, but I was taking calls, I was answering people, and coach (Nick) Saban was one of them.  The one thing that stuck out to me was he told me, 'hey like during the draft when Tua (Tagovailoa) gets selected I'm going to call you," Miilroe said. "I'm like, man, you ain't gonna call me."

Saban was a man of his word.

"Saban called me and said, 'hey, you come here, this will be you in five six years,'" recalled Milroe. "I said, 'I'm committing,' and he's at the draft.

"I'm like man, this is the place I need to be at. This is while I'm committed to Texas," Milroe said. "I silent committed (to Alabama). No one know that, but I silent committed before I even posted it."

Milroe slipped under the radar, and all along, Saban knew he had found the next quarterback for Alabama.  Last season, Milroe led Saban's final squad to the college football playoff, and now its up to Milroe to lead the first squad without Saban on the sidelines.
