Browns Trail Vikings 13-7 at Halftime as Offensive Struggles Continue

Through the first 30 minutes of play inside Cleveland Browns Stadium, the Browns are trailing the Minnesota Vikings 13-7. So far, the biggest story for the Browns has again been their inability to sustain drives and put points on the board.

Despite neither side playing its starters, both offenses got off to hot starts. With Nick Mullens in at quarterback, the Vikings drove 75 yards in eight plays. He completed three of his five passes for 53 yards. The last of those passes was a 14-yard touchdown strike to Trishton Jackson, giving the Vikings an early 7-0 lead.

Then, picking up where he left off in last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers, Dorian Thompson-Robinson led the Browns 69 yards in eight plays. Robinson completed three of his four passes for 40 yards as he managed to keep the drive alive with a 15-yard strike to Jamari Thrash for an early fourth-down conversion.

That drive-saving reception was followed by a defensive pass interference that put the Browns on the goal line where, after not getting in on their first run, D'Onta Foreman did on his second attempt.

However, the tie would only be brief, as the Vikings managed a 41-yard field goal from Will Reichard's foot on their next drive before three consecutive drives ended in punts.

The Vikings would assemble another strong drive, reaching the Browns' 14-yard line. With them already threatening to add a touchdown to their lead, Mullens was sacked on third down by Jeremiah Martin, forcing them to settle for another field goal.

Despite the stop, the Browns failed to cut into the deficit as they suffered another quick three-and-out before a punt. However, even after another stop from the Browns' defense, a late interception thrown by Thompson-Robinson would end their hopes of getting points before halftime.

The Browns will enter the locker room trailing by six points. They'll receive the ball first in the second half, and they'll have an opportunity right out of the gate to potentially take the lead.
