'More Cowbell!' Kelce's Hilarious Reaction to Mahomes' Behind-the-Back Pass

Travis Kelce has hosted "Saturday Night Live,'' so he obviously knows all about the legendary show's penchant for catchphrase creativity.

And he found one to be quite handy in the aftermath of a tricky play executed by buddy Patrick Mahomes on Saturday.

During the preseason game against the Detroit Lions, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback completed a behind-the-back pass as he got the ball to the tight end Kelce.

As it turns out, Mahomes claims he tossed the ball that way "out of spite'' because Kelce ran the wrong route, thus hanging the All-Pro QB out to dry.

So, no, this is not a play that was already part of the game plan ... though the two-time defending Super Bowl champs, this year going for a three-peat, may view this as being so zany that it just might work.

Indeed, Kelce is playfully pushing for more of this ... and "more cowbell.''

"If you missed it, here it is. Now that it’s been done in the preseason, I got a fever, and I need more cowbell," Kelce wrote on X.

Mahomes does have a knack for unusual passing angles and creativity ... almost as creative as comic actor Will Ferrell was when he combined with legendary performer Christopher Walken to created the iconic "more cowbell'' skit on "SNL.''
