Chiefs Lose Preseason Week 2 on FG

The Kansas City Chiefs preseason record drops to 0-2 after they lost 24-23 as a result of a game-winning field goal in Saturday's game against the Detroit Lions.

The team's full offensive starters only played two drives, but they impressed in those drives, to nobody's surprise. Most notably, Patrick Mahomes sent the sports world into a frenzy when he completed a behind-the-back pass to Travis Kelce with six minutes left in the first quarter.

Despite the team's stars playing a minimal amount of snaps, the other guys were able to come in and get the job done. Third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun came in and led the team in passing with 99 yards. A lot of those yards came as a result of a 64-yard touchdown from Cornell Powell, who led the team in receiving yards.

The Chiefs held a 23-21 lead in the last minute of the fourth quarter, but the Lions got the ball and were able to go down and kick a field goal with no time on the clock.

Even though the team was not able to get the win, there are some good things that came from this game. Xavier Worthy showed that he can step up in the absence of Marquise Brown, as he finished with 62 yards and a touchdown in just a few drives.

If Worthy can remain consistent and the team can get Brown back at a reasonable time, they could be in great shape to make a lot of noise this season.

And if Mahomes and company can keep matching fun with production? A three-peat for the Super Bowl perennials remains in the conversation - no matter the meaningless preseason record.
