With Buffalo Bills safeties Mike Edwards and Cole Bishop continuing to deal with their respective injuries, veteran safety Kareem Jackson may be in line to see notable action in the team’s second preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday night.

Currently projecting behind both Taylor Rapp — the team’s expected starter — and Cam Lewis on the depth chart at strong safety, Jackson is expected to see action during the second-half as he makes his best attempt to earn a spot on Buffalo’s 53-man roster.

The Bills signed Jackson to a one-year deal. Jackson has played 15 seasons in the NFL, most recently in 2023 with the Houston Texans.

Jackson was originally drafted by Houston with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2010 draft out of Alabama. He was a member of the 2009 Alabama BCS National Championship team.

He has started 193 of 203 regular season games plus eight postseason games in his NFL career with the Houston Texans (2010-18, 2023) and Denver Broncos (2019-23). Jackson has totaled 954 tackles and 22 interceptions (returning three for touchdowns) during his career.

Jackson’s signing came on the heels of Edwards being listed as being on a week-to-week basis due to a hamstring injury. Should Edwards and Bishop continue to nurse their respective injuries, Jackson could help his case for a roster spot with a strong showing against Pittsburgh.
