Steelers End First-Half Level 3-3 vs. Bills in Wilson's Preseason Debut

Through the first 30 minutes of play inside Acrisure Stadium, the Pittsburgh Steelers are tied with the Buffalo Bills 3-3 in a game that has been anything but an offensive display.

After the Bills unexpectedly changed their starting quarterback plan, Josh Allen never saw action as originally planned; the first half was very much an offensive stalemate.

Russell Wilson's first two drives ended in three-and-out punts as his preseason debut with the Steelers didn't start out as planned. That was despite the veteran signal-caller being a perfect two-for-two passing for 14 yards.

However, that streak of three-and-outs wouldn't extend into a third drive, as Najee Harris picked up an early first down. Yet, even after the first down, the Steelers were forced to punt again as Broderick Jones gave up a costly third-down sack.

Then, following a Miles Killebrew interception, the Steelers' offense found some much-needed life. A four-yard run from Harris made them the first offense to cross the 50-yard line. However, the Steelers were forced to settle for a field goal after George Pickens' impressive acrobatics weren't enough to reel in a deep ball from Wilson.

However, continuing the trend of things not going right for the Steelers first-team offense, veteran kicker Chris Boswell's 52-yard attempt hit off the upright.

"Another man's trash is another man's treasure," or at least in football terms, the Steelers' miss turned into the Bills' make. Following a nine-play, 50-yard drive, Tyler Bass put the Bills on the scoreboard first with a 27-yard field goal.

After playing in each of the Steelers' first five drives, Wilson would turn it over to Fields on the team's fifth drive. Yet, despite the quarterback change, the Steelers didn't see an upturn in fortune as they suffered another three-and-out.

However, after making good on his earlier miss, Boswell brought Pittsburgh level with a 44-yard attempt. Thus, he capped off an impressive two-minute drive from Fields as he led the Steelers 46 yards in seven plays.

The Steelers will look to gain their first lead of the evening over the Bills in the second half. However, they will first have to stop the Bills, who will receive the ball first.
