Bills Defeat Steelers with Strong Defensive Performance

Despite not scoring a touchdown, the Buffalo Bills are leaving Acrisure Stadium with a win, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 in a Saturday preseason game dominated by the defenses.

Entering the second half tied 3-3, the Bills offense was able to muster up multiple drives resulting in field goals to take the lead. The real difference-makers for the offense were rookie running backs Ray Davis and Frank Gore Jr, who combined for 99 yards and over six yards-per-carry in the game.

The Bills defense was extremely stout throughout the game, allowing just three points, all of which came in the first half. A complete inverse of the defense last week when they allowed 27 points in the second half to the Chicago Bears.

One of the strongest performances came from rookie linebacker and Buffalo native Joe Andreessen, who finished the game with 11 total tackles. One of the biggest plays from Andreessen came in the third quarter when he tracked down Steelers quarterback Justin Fields for a loss of seven yards on fourth down, resulting in a turnover-on-downs in the redzone.

Andreessen came into training camp with an uphill battle to make the roster, but after a strong performance tonight, his stock has certainly gone up.

This win is the Bills' first of the preseason after losing their first game to Chicago. Buffalo was able to leave with a win despite Josh Allen not playing a snap after there were unstable weather conditions heading into the game.

While the Bills were victorious, the offense was still unable to reach the end zone, and have yet to score a touchdown yet in this preseason.
