The Boston Red Sox put up four runs in the last three innings to beat the Baltimore Orioles in a pivotal victory in the third game of the series.

Brayan Bello and the bullpen remained steady for all nine innings and shut the door following Boston's late-game run production.

What are the main takeaways from Boston's game three win over Baltimore?

Brayan Bello is looking like his best self

25-year-old SP Brayan Bello's 2024 season has been a major step back from his promising 2023 campaign but he's seemingly getting back on track. Bello took a no-hitter through the first 5.2 innings before a Gunnar Henderson solo HR ended his bid.

His final line is six innings, one earned run, two hits, six strikeouts, and three walks. His walks and 57% strike percentage are not yet in the traditionally desirable zone, but his entire arsenal looked sharp and he dominated a strong Orioles lineup outside the one HR.

Left-handed starters continue to get the best of the Red Sox lineup

Orioles rookie starter Cade Povich has seen his fair share of rookie issues but he carved up the Red Sox lineup for most of his outing, continuing Boston's trend of subpar offensive performances against southpaws.

Their ability to jump on the right-handed relievers immediately after Povich's departure propelled them far enough ahead to comfortably finish off the victory, but their teamwide contact rates against lefties need to improve substantially.

The clutch gene was in full effect

From Jarren Duran's two-out, two-RBI single to break the tie in the seventh and HR robbery to silence any hope Baltimore had in the ninth, to Lucas Sims' perfect 0.2-inning outing to escape a tough jam and to Rafael Devers' two-run insurance HR in the eighth, the Red Sox showed up in all the right moments.

The game was a pitcher's duel through the first six innings and looked like a game that could be broken open by either team at any moment. But as they've shown time and time again this season, this Red Sox group is filled with clutch performers and fighters.

The Red Sox are now 65-57 on the season.

    Game 4

The final game of the Boston Red Sox series against the Baltimore Orioles is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 PM EST at Camden Yards, televised on NESN and MLB Network.
