Raheem Mostert Latest NFL Player to Call Out Olympic Gold Medalist Noah Lyles

It seems like the NBA isn’t the only league that U.S. track and field star Noah Lyles has a beef with now.

After Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill boastfully stated he believed could beat the Olympic gold medalist in the 100 meters in a race, his teammate Raheem Mostert got in on the action as well.

Speaking to NFL Network on Friday, Mostert boldly claimed that Hill isn’t the only one on the Dolphins roster who could give Lyles a run for his money in a race.

“I mean, obviously, it takes training, right?” Mostert said . “We’d definitely have to get the training in but honestly, I think we’ll square off pretty good [with Lyles]. I like our chances, I like our odds. We can definitely make some noise in that regard. … I might join [Hill], honestly, in that race [against Lyles] and see where it leads us.”

Mostert does have the distinction of being the fastest ball-carrier in the NFL since 2018. He reached a top speed of 23.09 miles per hour on his 80-yard touchdown run in Week 2 of the 2020 season against the New York Jets, per NextGen Stats.

Though Mostert is one of the fastest running backs in the NFL — he ran a 4.34 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 2015 — he’s not quite as fast as Hill, who ran a 4.29 40-yard dash at the Combine the following year.

Hill’s top speed since NextGen Stats started tracking it in 2018 is 22.01 miles per hour, which he accomplished on a 64-yard catch in Miami’s Week 5 win over the New York Giants last season.
