The Miami Marlins fell to the New York Mets 4-0 at Citi Field on Saturday afternoon. The team has now lost three games in a row and are only 3-7 in their last ten games.

Here is what you need to know from Saturday's contest.

    Another Short Outing for Meyer

The young pitcher got another chance to start on Saturday as Max Meyer made his eighth appearance on the season. He went only four innings, allowing all four runs in the contest and walking three batters. He reached 90 pitches (49 strikes) showing that efficiency and control remain to be a problem for the former first-round pick.

Meyer may eventually find himself in the bullpen once other Marlins starters return from injury, and that may be the best thing for him moving forward. He picked up only seven whiffs with a 28% CSW on the evening.

    Opportunities Fell Short

The Marlins had opportunities to get on the board on Saturday, although it wasn't many. Miami only picked up four hits and one walk in the entire ballgame, however, three of those knocks were extra base hits. Jake Burger , Otto Lopez , and Nick Fortes each recorded a double at the plate against the Mets.

The team finished the day going 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position (RISP) and left five runners on base. The Marlins also struck out eight times at the plate due to the outstanding complete game outing by Mets pitcher Luis Severino .

    What's Next

The Miami Marlins move to 45-78 on the season after the loss to the Mets. The team will try and salvage one win in the series as they will finish their trip at Citi Field with the finale on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:05 PM EST. Valente Bellozo is scheduled to start on the mound for the Marlins.
