'From Way Downtown!' WATCH Aubrey's Record-Tying Kick

The Dallas Cowboys beat the Las Vegas Raiders 27-12 on Saturday night, and there were a lot of positives to talk about.

Among them? Dallas kicker Brandon Aubrey's big leg.

Said Aubrey: “You can feel it off your foot. It feels like nothing is there, it has no resistance. It pops off your foot. It stays on your foot for like a half a second and then it just flies.”

What's he talking about?

He's talking about what - had this been the regular season - what would have been the record-tying longest field goal in NFL history.

A former software engineer and player in the MLS, where he was drafted in the 2017 draft, Aubrey has turned into an incredible find for the Cowboys.

"From way downtown!'' came the kick to close the first half, a 66-yarder that by some measures might've been good from 70 or 72.

Said Aubrey:“Kicking in pregame, I noticed the ball was flying ... Coming out here (inside the Vegas indoor stadium), there’s no wind. It’s perfect conditions. Nice grass field with a little bit of elevation being in Vegas.

"It’s a good place to play.”

Last season as a rookie, the DFW native played in all 17 games, connecting on 36 of 38 field goals and 49 of 52 extra points. In Week 14 last season against the Philadelphia Eagles, Aubrey became the first kicker in NFL history to connect on two kicks of 59 yards or longer in the same game.

He connected on boots of 59 and 60 yards in a 33-13 victory over the Eagles at AT&T Stadium.

On this night, Dallas would get the win in part on the strength of two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but the highlight of the night was definitely Aubrey’s long-range bomb. ... "from way downtown.''
