The Boston Red Sox took on the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards this weekend in a four-game set and picked up wins in the two middle games.

The Orioles beat the Red Sox 4-2 in the series finale this afternoon, preventing Boston from earning its second series win in a row.

What are the main things to take away from the series finale between Boston and Baltimore?

    Kutter Crawford's outing was solid

Boston’s right-handed starter was cruising until he gave up a solo homer to right-center to Adley Rutschman in the fifth inning but held on to finish the inning and started the next one.

In 5.1 innings on the mound, Crawford allowed three runs off two hits, walked one batter and struck four out.

Crawford has looked good to start the second half of the season and will look to help the Red Sox remain competitive in the Wild Card race.

Boston blew a golden opportunity in the top of the eighth inning

The Red Sox had a chance to even things up in their second-to-last time at the plate.

Ceddanne Rafaela singled to left field which allowed Triston Casas to score and cut Baltimore’s lead to three. The Red Sox had loaded bases with one out and did not score another run in that inning.

Boston will need to consistently capitalize on chances like that in order to remain in the Wild Card race.

The Red Sox got runners on base, they could not drive them in

Boston finished the series finale with 11 hits but only managed to score two runs, each coming in the final two innings.

The Red Sox left 11 runners on base and dropped a winnable game as a result.

Baltimore, on the other hand, scored four runs but had just three hits.

The Red Sox are now 65-58 on the season.

    What's Next?

The Red Sox remain on the road for a three-game set with the Houston Astros set to begin tomorrow. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET.
