The Philadelphia Phillies (73-50) entered Sunday looking for their first sweep since June 9th-11th, and first four-game sweep since May 3rd-6th.

Entering the bottom of the sixth inning down two runs, time was beginning to run short on the Phillies' chances at that sweep.

Bryson Stott stepped to the plate with one out and no one on base. It was his third at-bat of the day, and he was hitless.

After working the count to 2-1, Stott would pull a four-seam fastball into the seats in left field to cut the Washington Nationals (55-69) lead to one.

It was Stott's ninth home run of the season and the 23rd home run that Nationals' starter Jake Irvin (9-10, 3.81 ERA) had allowed this season.

Next would be Brandon Marsh . With still just one out and no one on, Marsh would fall behind in the count early, fouling off a first pitch four-seam fastball.

The next pitch would be a curveball above the knees, and Marsh would pull it into the seats in right field to tie the game at four each.

It was Marsh's 12th home run of the season, and the 24th home run Irvin has allowed this season.

With the game now tied, and the Phillies in their bullpen after a short outing from starter Taijuan Walker (3-4, 5.69 ERA), the Phillies chances at a sweep are looking better.

Should the Phillies complete the comeback, in turn completing the sweep, they will have Stott an Marsh to thank for putting them back in this game.
