Dez Malone has impressed throughout Sooners training camp

Dez Malone is in the midst of his first season with the Oklahoma Sooners after transferring from San Diego State. He spoke this week about how the transition has been and his process of learning the defensive scheme.

“I feel like that’s something our team does well. We’re fine with wherever they put us…It’s up to us to ultimately do what we want to do. It really don’t matter to us.”

On transferring from San Diego State

Dez: The transition has been smooth. This team, the brotherhood is something that I’ve never been a part of before. It’s second to none. I feel like the guys really brought me in since day one. I love it here. I love everything about it.

On how the learning curve has been on understanding the defense

Dez: When I first got here it was kind of like a different language. But when I got the terminology down, everything slowed down for me and I was able to speak the same language as everyone else around me and that allowed me to play better within the scheme.

Oklahoma kicks off their season on Friday, August 30th when they host the Temple Owls in Norman. There has been a lot of excitement around Dez Jhon Malone who transferred to the Oklahoma Sooners last December. The cornerback talked to the media about overcoming some of the early obstacles in learning the defense and how much more comfortable he feels in fall camp as opposed to this past spring. It’s certainly going to be exciting to see how Dez’s game translates to the SEC.
