For the Washington Commanders , the two biggest names we know at running back are Brian Robinson Jr and Austin Ekeler, but second-year running back Christian Rodriguez is trying to make a name for himself as well.

CBS Sports recently released an article detailing the potential of the former Kentucky Wildcat to be a “valuable contributor.”

"Rodriguez is a throwback runner -- wide frame, downhill style and linebackers glance off him when he really gets the legs churning, even between the tackles," CBS Sports wrote .

"At nearly 6-0 and 217 pounds, he's plenty big enough to shoulder a sizable load if needed, although he'll start his second season in the nation's capital behind Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler."

As a rookie, Rodriguez ran the ball 51 times for 247 yards for a 4.8 yards par carry average. With a strong frame and powerful legs, the former sixth-round pick could be ideally used for short yardage and goal line situations.

Rodriguez is also a talented blocker, and with his lower body strength and leverage, picks up blitzes well. He could be used in obvious blitzing downs to protect quarterback Jayden Daniels this season.

Rodriguez should get plenty of opportunities to play next wee as the Commanders wrap up their preseason schedule at home against the New England Patriots.
