Jets O-Line 'Coming Together' For ‘Surprised’ Aaron Rodgers

    By Adam Schultz,

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is bullish in his improved offensive line as the regular season draws closer.

Having one of the worst offensive lines in football last season as the Jets gave up 64 sacks, work was done in the offseason to improve it. Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and John Simpson were all brought in to solidify the line.

And Rodgers, who spoke with CBS-TV during the Jets' clash against the Carolina Panthers, gave Simpson special mention while also stating that he likes how the offensive line room is shaping up.

"You watch John practice, he's been probably the most surprising," Rodgers said during an in-game interview with CBS-TV . "Not being disrespectful to John, I didn't know a whole lot about him, but the way he's practiced and played has been phenomenal. So you feel good about the offensive line. We're coming together. It's tough in the joint practices because we don't do a whole lot in them. It's kind of like the preseason but feel good about the squad."

It is no secret that keeping Rodgers upright is paramount to the Jets' success in 2024, and now that he has three savvy veterans protecting him, he can be confident about his protection.

Smith and Moses fortify the tackle positions, while Simpson helps the interior along with center Joe Tipperman and right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

So there are some really good pieces for Rodgers to work with, and given the outside weapons in Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, and Allen Lazard, having ample time to throw the football will be crucial for Rodgers.

Now boasting what looks like, on paper at least, to be one of the better offensive lines in football, there is every chance that Rodgers will be kept upright and clean throughout games in 2024.

And it is no wonder he's feeling good about how the offensive line is shaping up.
