Diana Taurasi Makes WNBA And NBA History On Same Night Against Chicago Sky

Diana Taurasi had a vintage performance against the Chicago Sky on Sunday, helping the Phoenix Mercury secure a massive 86-68 victory in the desert.

Taurasi posted 23 points, five assists, and three rebounds, shooting 46.2% from the field.

With her stat line on Sunday, Diana Taurasi became the oldest player in WNBA and NBA history to record 20 or more points, five or more assists, and zero turnovers in a game.

The 42-year-old passed NBA legend John Stockton, who played for the Utah Jazz from 1984 to 2003.

Taurasi led the Mercury in both the scoring and assists columns and achieved that feat without giving up a single turnover.

Prior to the Mercury's matchup against the Sky, Taurasi was averaging 15.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

She's the oldest player in both the WNBA and NBA, but the debated greatest women's basketball player of all time has still been playing at a high level in 2024.

Taurasi hasn't just made history in the WNBA. She's also one of the most decorated Olympic athletes in United States history, recently securing her sixth gold medal in the 2024 Summer Olympics.

The WNBA veteran may be on the tail end of her career, but she's made it clear that she's looking to lead a deep playoff run in Phoenix.

Taurasi and the Sky currently stand as the No. 6 team in the WNBA standings with a 15-13 record. They have a comfortable spot in the playoff rankings since the top eight teams in the WNBA make it to the postseason,
