'Dead Last'? Buccaneers Pass Rush Analyzed

    By Jonah Morgan,

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into this offseason needing to improve their pass rushing, and they haven't been able to really do that, despite a few attempts.

In a recent article by ESPN's Mike Clay , he ranks every NFL team's edge rushers. For the reigning NFC South champions, he has them ranked dead last in the NFL.

"Tampa Bay will turn to a combination of Yaya Diaby, second-round rookie Chris Braswell, underperforming 2021 first-rounder Joe Tryon-Shoyinka and Anthony Nelson as its core at the position. None of those veterans played more than half of his team's snaps in 2023. This is a rough situation for a team that finished 17th in pass rush win rate last season (40.4%)."

The Bucs have made a number of attempts to improve their ability to get to the quarterback, but not all of them have ended up working out.

The team signed veteran edge rusher Randy Gregory, but he never showed up to any practices or team meetings, so they were forced to cut him. They drafted Chris Braswell out of Alabama in the second round of this year's draft, so they will be hoping he can step up and prove he was worth the pick.

If the Buccaneers want to be able to make the playoffs and make noise again, they will need a number of their pass-rushers to step up and perform this season.
