The Pittsburgh Steelers' preseason struggles continued in Week 2, following up a disappointing performance against the Houston Texans with an even more lackluster showing against the Buffalo Bills . The 9-3 loss on Saturday not only exposed issues with the team’s offensive line but also drew harsh criticism from NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe , who voiced his frustration over the Steelers’ poor performance.

Speaking on his "Nightcap" podcast alongside Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson , Sharpe did not hold back in his assessment of the Steelers’ offense, particularly targeting quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields .

"The thing is, you see both of them make throws in practice. Fields is playing unbelievable, Russell is making great throws, and then come game time, it's like, damn, did y'all even practice? I mean, it was bad," said Sharpe.

The Steelers’ offensive line was a significant factor in the team’s inability to generate any momentum.

Wilson and Fields were under constant pressure throughout the game, leading to a total of four sacks and 10 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus ( PFF ). The line's struggles were most apparent with 2023 first-round pick Broderick Jones, who allowed three pressures and two sacks. Although Jones is nursing an elbow injury, his performance raised concerns about his readiness for the regular season.

Sharpe’s criticism didn’t stop there. He questioned the team’s overall preparedness and suggested that if the Steelers don’t improve, they could be in for a tough season.

"I don't wanna say they’re gonna be 2-15, but boy, they gotta improve offensively, man," Sharpe said, underscoring the urgency for the Steelers to address their issues before the regular season kicks off.

The Steelers have one final preseason game against the Detroit Lions on August 24, offering them a last chance to iron out the kinks before their regular-season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on September 8.

With time running out, the pressure is on Pittsburgh to rectify their offensive struggles and prove that their early preseason woes are not a sign of things to come.
