Christie Sides Sidesteps Question on Endgame Spat With Seattle Storm's Noelle Quinn

The Indiana Fever scored a second straight win on Sunday after blowing out the Seattle Storm, 92-75, as coach Christie Sides had her entire squad humming right from the onset.

Kelsey Mitchell led the scoring with 27 points, including shooting 5-of-8 from deep, while Caitlin Clark chipped in 23 points on top of five rebounds, nine assists, and two blocks. Lexie Hull came off the bench to add 22 markers on a blistering 6-of-7 marksmanship from beyond the arc, while Aliyah Boston had an all-around affair of nine points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists.

The Fever's impressive win, however, was marred by a spat between Sides and Storm coach Noelle Quinn in the dying seconds. According to the broadcast panel, Quinn didn't appreciate Sides leaving her starters on the floor in a rout while the Storm emptied their bench.

Both coaches later shook hands, with Quinn saying in the postgame press conference that he respects Sides and they were just having a " spirited conversation about gamesmanship ."

When it was Sides' turn on the microphone, she evaded the issue after being asked by a reporter about it.

"A lot of respect for Noelle, (what happened) that's between her and I," said Sides in a video posted by IndyStar.com . "But my gosh, the fans, the win, we're just excited.

"Just the spirit in the gym, the energy in the gym today, 16,000 people, right? I think that's what it was for tonight. Just a huge win for the people."

It was also a huge win for the Fever, who improved to 13-15, already equaling their win total last season. They still have 12 games remaining. They are 10-5 in their last 15 games after opening the campaign with a 3-8 record.

"I'm so proud of our team," Sides stressed. "These guys, they put in the work. They keep showing up."

Clark and the rest of the Fever will next face the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 24.
