The New Orleans Saints have a talented quarterback room with Derek Carr, Jake Haener, and Spencer Rattler. Carr has the starting job locked up, but having talented young players such as Haener and Rattler is certainly good insurance.

However, the Saints fell to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, 16-10. All three signal-callers saw a good amount of playing time in the game with Haener attempting the most passes (13) and throwing for the most yards (76).

After the game, former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant made sure to give one Saints quarterback a positive review, and it was Spencer Rattler.

"Spencer Rattler a really good QB," Bryant wrote on X.

Rattler finished 4-of-8 for 27 yards with a pair of sacks. He also recorded three carries but fumbled the ball, so Bryant's review of the rookie is a bit puzzling.

In the Saints' first preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, Rattled went 9-of-17 for 70 yards with no touchdowns but added a rushing score in the 16-14 victory.

On the other hand, Rattler's college stats were impressive. He played three seasons at Oklahoma before playing his final two with South Carolina.

He finished with 10,807 yards passing along with 77 touchdowns and 32 interceptions, so he certainly filled up the stat sheet during his time.

His best year came in 2020 with the Sooners when he three for over 3,000 yards and had a career-high 28 touchdowns, so perhaps Dez Bryant is remembering how good Rattler was in his college days.

The Saints drafted Rattler in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft, so he shouldn't need to worry too much about being released before the season begins. However, his backup quarterback job could be in danger if he doesn't play well in the preseason finale.
