Former Texas defensive end Byron Murphy II continues to show the world he is a man of many talents.

Of course, the 2023 Big 12 defensive lineman of the year is primarily known for his ability on the field, totaling 29 tackles (13 solo), 8.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and seven quarterback hurries in his junior season, his final at the collegiate level. This production convinced the Seattle Seahawks to pick Murphy II 16th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, making the DeSoto product the first of a program-record 11 Longhorns selected.

The sports management major also impressed in the classroom at Texas, earning Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors in 2022, Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honors in 2023, was an Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honoree in 2021-2022 and was a three-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll (fall 2021, spring 2022, spring 2023).

But on Friday, it was Murphy II’s Acappella freestyling that went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter , garnering reactions from both Seahawks fans and the general public.

One fan even did some post-production, putting a familiar beat over his freestyling , making the video feel like it was shot at a small concert instead of an NFL team’s rookie talent show.

Murphy II had one tackle in Seattle’s first preseason game and will presumably play in the team’s second preseason contest against the Tennessee Titans at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday. He will make his NFL regular season debut on Sept 8, when the Denver Broncos visit the Seahawks at 3:05 p.m. CT.
