The New York Giants continue to make their presence felt in the NFC East, with defensive standouts Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns earning spots on the latest FOX Sports All-NFC East team. This recognition underscores the growing reputation of the Giants' defense as they prepare for the 2024 season.

Lawrence, the Giants' formidable nose guard, has established himself as one of the most dominant interior linemen in the NFL. Over the past two seasons, Lawrence has recorded 121 tackles and 12 sacks, making him a cornerstone of the New York's defensive strategy.

His consistent performance has earned him comparisons to legendary lineman Aaron Donald, particularly since Donald's retirement, solidifying Lawrence’s role as the league's top nose tackle.

Burns, the Giants' newest addition at outside linebacker, joins Lawrence on the All-NFC East team. Burns, who was brought in to bolster the pass rush, has quickly made an impact alongside Lawrence. Together, they are expected to lead a more aggressive and dynamic defense under new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen . Last season, the Giants ranked 17th in rush defense and 29th in sacks, but the addition of Burns is expected to elevate their overall defensive performance.

While Lawrence and Burns were the only Giants players to make the All-22 team, other defensive talents from the roster received honorable mentions. Linebacker Bobby Okereke, was recognized as one of the NFL’s emerging middle linebackers. At just 27 years old, Okereke is already a tackling machine and is coming off a standout season, pointed out by Fox Sports, that showcased his ability to dominate the field.

Despite their defensive recognition, New York was notably absent from the offensive All-NFC East roster. Left tackle Andrew Thomas was considered for a spot based on his 2022 performance, but injuries in the past season hindered his chances. Nevertheless, the Giants’ defensive depth and talent remain a focal point for the team as they aim to be a competitive force in the NFC East.
