On Monday, Aug. 19 the Miami Marlins announced a few updates to their roster to start the new week.

Miami is recalling infielder Connor Norby to the major leagues, who was recently acquired by the team from the Baltimore Orioles

Norby is the No. 3 prospect in Miami's farm system. He was acquired with Kyle Stowers from the Orioles in exchange for starting pitcher Trevor Rogers. In his nine games in the MLB, he is a .188 hitter with two home runs and a .594 OPS.

Miami is also selecting the contract of right-hand pitcher Adam Oller from Triple-A Jacksonville. Oller will start Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has a 2.88 ERA in over 25 innings throughout three starts and three relief appearances in the minor leagues. He will likely make multiple starts for the rotation.

The Marlins have also removed a couple of players from their roster. One is right-hand relief pitcher George Soriano, who they optioned to Triple-A Syracuse. Soriano allowed four runs in eight innings throughout most of his time in the MLB. Oller will take his spot.

The other player off the Marlins roster is infielder Emmanuel Rivera. With the arrival of Norby, Rivera's playing time was diminishing. The 28-year-old played in 96 games with Miami and hit just 214/.294/.269 with a home run. He is likely going to pass through waivers.

With the Marlins currently rebuilding, these new roster moves could provide a spark toward helping them win more games and potentially contend in the future.
