'Calm & Relaxed!' Ex Pro Bowl Receiver Chad Johnson Praises Commanders' Jayden Daniels

It seems like praise is being heaped upon Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels with each passing day. Former six-time Pro Bowl receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson is the latest in a long line of former players who just can’t find enough good things to say about this year’s No. 2 overall pick.

On the latest edition of his podcast “Nightcap” with Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe, Johnson gushed over the Commanders rookie.

“Did you Jayden Daniels today,” Johnson said. “You know, I went to Dolphins practice, I went to the joint practice, and I was able to see them; it might have been Thursday’s practice. Maaaaan, that boy looked like……you know how you see some rookies, and they look like they just belong. Like he’s been here before.

“Man, he in that pocket, man, so G—–n calm and relaxed. Pressure coming all around him, he just stepping up in the pocket. He looked nice. And this was in practice so I expected what I saw in the game.”

In the first half of the game against the Dolphins, Daniels was 10-of-12 for 78 yards and hasn’t tossed his first touchdown pass yet. He also hasn’t turned over the ball, which is very important for a rookie.

Commanders and coach Dan Quinn have not made the determination if Daniels will play in this week’s final preseason game against the New England Patriots, but since it’s the only home preseason game of the year, we could see Daniels at least playing one series in the first quarter in front of his home crowd.

Expectations are high for the reigning Heisman Trophy winner as the season kicks off in under three weeks when the Commanders head down to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 8.
