The long-awaited position battle to find the starting cornerback opposite Darius Slay appears to be coming to a close for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Tim McManus of ESPN reported that Isaiah Rodgers, the former cornerback of the Indianapolis Colts is considered the "front-runner" over the likes of Kelee Ringo.

Ringo, last season's fourth-round pick out of Georgia will expect to be the immediate backup to both Rodgers and Slay should anything happen to either player during a game once the 2024 season starts.

McManus did acknowledge that the team has not officially made an announcement as to who will start each week for the Eagles, but the alignment of how the first-team reps have been parsed gives an understanding of how Philadelphia will align themselves for Week 1 in Brazil.

For Rodgers, his entrance into the starting lineup is a great bounce-back after being suspended by the league for gambling during the 2023 season. He was released and picked up by the Eagles last season from Indianapolis after being considered one of the up-and-coming cornerbacks at the time following an impressive 2022 campaign.

As Philadelphia continues to look to find ways to see which cornerbacks are best fit for Vic Fangio's scheme, it looks like Rodgers is at the top of that list overall.
