After an unceremonious sweep at the hands of the Kansas City Royals, the Cincinnati Reds must regroup against the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates over the next seven days. In the hours leading up to the first game in Toronto, the team announced a handful of roster moves.

They've called up RHP Julian Aguiar , optioned RHP Casey Legumina , and placed RHP Christian Roa on the 60-day IL.

The headliner here is obviously Aguiar, who is slated to make his MLB debut tonight against the Blue Jays. This call-up is his third move of the 2024 season. He started at  Double-A Chattanooga. There, he posted a 2-3 record with a 3.38 ERA over 13 starts. In his 69 1/3 innings of work, he held a 1.183 WHIP with 54 strikeouts.

Then, he moved up to Triple-A Louisville in June. In nine starts with the Bats, Aguiar had a 3-1 record with a 4.40 ERA. He's pitched 47 innings and had five starts when he allowed two or fewer runs. Coming into the game on Monday, Agiar pitched six innings of two-run baseball on August 13. He only allowed three hits and did not walk a batter.

Legumina has struggled at the Major League level this year. In two relief appearances, including on Sunday afternoon, he has allowed six earned runs (seven overall) over just four innings of work. Legumina has allowed eight hits and one walk.

Last year, he was a touch better, finishing with a 5.68 ERA over 12 2/3 innings.

Finally, Roa is likely done for the year with his right shoulder sprain. Roa has spent all of this year at the Triple-A level and appeared in 23 games for the Bats. He has a 4-5 record with a 5.55 ERA and hasn't pitched since August 10.

Additionally, while Amed Rosario was claimed by the Reds off of waivers, the team has not officially announced it to this point.
