The Boston Red Sox will begin the final leg of their roadtrip on Monday with a three game series at Minute Maid Park against the Houston Astros.

The Red Sox are coming off a series split against the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend and heading into Monday they sit only 3.5 games outside the final wildcard spot in the American League.

The Astros have been one of the hottest teams in baseball and hold the best record in the American League since the All Star break with a 17-10 record. Houston has taken over as the leaders in the American League West over the Seattle Mariners.

The Red Sox will look to slow them down beginning Monday. In hopes to do so, the team made a few adjustments to their pitching staff before the three game series begins.

The team announced that they recalled RHP Greg Weissert from Triple-A Worcester. The club in return optioned LHP Bailey Horn back to the minors.

This will be the second stint for Weissert with the major league club as he was with the team until July 29th when he was optioned to Triple-A. In his time with the Red Sox this season, he has made 45 appearances with 47 strikeouts across 46.2 innings, a 4.24 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP.

Horn will be sent down after only 14 appearances with Boston this season. The former Auburn University pitcher made his MLB Debut this past June for the club and had a 6.48 ERA with 13 strikeouts across 16.2 innings of work. He finished his first stint in the majors with a 1.62 WHIP

The first pitch for the series opener on Monday in Houston is scheduled for 8:10 PM EST.
