Washington Commanders rookie first-round quarterback Jayden Daniels has surpassed all expectations since being drafted No. 2 overall in this year’s NFL Draft. Both on and off the field, the former LSU Tiger has impressed coaches and teammates with his leadership and demeanor.

Meanwhile, so far this preseason, receiver Dyami Brown leads all Commanders with five catches for 74 yards and he believes his connection with Daniels is a big reason why.

“It’s smooth so far," Brown said. "I think there’s more than just me and him; it’s a lot of us that put in work together in the off time, so even after practice we get work in.”

It takes a lot of effort and dedication to take the leap from college to the pros, even if you are the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. Daniels has put in plenty of work in learning the playbook and really honing his craft even when he isn’t on the practice field.

That preparation shows, and Brown believes that with all of them putting in that kind of work, it’s really beginning to show.

“I think we’re all doing pretty well," Brown continued. "We can all still learn and do some things, but at the end of the day, we encourage each other and we work with each other. I think just us picking each other up, I think we can be a very good group.”

The Commanders play their last preseason game this Sunday at home against the New England Patriots. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST.
