The WNBA season has resumed after a long layoff due to the All-Star break and the Olympics. Now, the debate can continue about who will be Rookie of the Year between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark.

As of now, it's essentially a toss-up and a matter of preference as both rookies have performed well so far this season.

On Monday, Dan Patrick spoke about the WNBA Rookie of the Year race between the two stars and made his thoughts clear:

"Angel Reese is a wonderful player, but she does not compare to what and who Caitlin Clark is when she's on the basketball floor, plain and simple," Patrick said. "But we want to make it a debate."

Clark got off to a bit of a slow start after a long college season and more hype and expectations than arguably any rookie to ever come into the league.

However, she has turned it around since then and was even 4th on a recent WNBA MVP odds list.

Patrick added more: "I likened her game to Moses Malone. Moses Malone was relentless. It's not that I don't appreciate it who she is or how she plays. There is no one, no one, like Caitlin Clark, in the history of the WNBA."

As of Monday, Clark is averaging 17.8 points per game with 8.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds. Reese is averaging 13.6 points per game with 12.3 rebounds and has been a huge force for the Chicago Sky. Clark leads her team in scoring while Reese sits third on hers, but both players have been incredible in just a few months in the WNBA.

The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky sit at No. 7 and 8, respectively, in the WNBA standings, so both rookies are fighting for a playoff spot.

As the season windows down, the WNBA Rookie of the Year debate will be a hot topic of conversation, especially if they both continue to play well.
