'Shock & Stress!' Klein Talks Position Change

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers tried new things on the offense side of the ball in their 20-7 loss against the Jaguars on Saturday. If there was one thing to like it was the offensive line being able to create space for running backs Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker to make plays.

A big reason for that was rookie offensive lineman Elijah Klein making a switch to tackle for the first time as a Buccaneer. Klein was alerted Friday night that he would be playing right tackle. He spoke following the game about the experience:

"It obviously was a shock and a little bit of stress," said Klein. "But once I kinda sat back and thought about it last night I was like it's overall super positive if I play well I get to demonstrate versatility which I think was a big part of my game coming out of college."

While the offense didn't get a ton of snaps, Irving averaged 4.3 yards per carry and Tucker averaged eight yards per carry, which is a testament to that offensive line being productive on the field.

Klein started the game at right tackle and played there for the whole first half. He eventually moved back to right guard in the second half.

Versatility was a big part of Klein's game coming out of college, and he wants that to translate to the NFL. The sixth-round pick approached the positional change with a can-do attitude which is a good mindset for a player aiming to make the team.
