A North Texas woman has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for embezzling over $1.2 million from her former employer, with part of the stolen funds used to purchase a suite at Dallas Mavericks games.

Staci Blackmon, 39, of Southlake, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft over $300,000, each resulting in a 35-year sentence, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.

The embezzlement scheme began in 2020 when Blackmon started misappropriating funds from her deceased boss and a high-end construction company in Southlake. Over several years, she managed to steal $1.2 million through various means.

While a significant portion of the stolen money was spent on TikTok coins, an in-app currency, Blackmon also made several extravagant purchases. Among these was a suite at the American Airlines Center for Dallas Mavericks games. Other expenses included home furniture and lavish trips.

It’s everyone’s dream to see Luka Doncic in the best way possible, but if you know it’s not your money, think twice before making that purchase. The theft came to light in 2022 when the daughter of Blackmon's former employer's partner noticed discrepancies in her father's trust fund. This discovery prompted an investigation by Southlake police.

Now if she ever wants to see Luka Doncic and the Mavericks play, it will be behind bars.
