'Hollywood' Update; Justin Watson 'Very Valuable' For Chiefs

    By Adam Schultz,

Much of the offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs has been dominated by the acquisitions of Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy, but the offense already boasts some talented players.

And "Hollywood" Brown (shoulder) is in the news right now because the team says he's the only injury issue as he is currently questionable for Week 1 against the Ravens.

But otherwise, at the wideout spot? There is help, including ...

While likely not a household name, receiver Justin Watson has become an important role player for head coach Andy Reid. Now entering his third season with the Chiefs, Watson has posted 300+ yards and 2+ touchdowns in both seasons.

Now, that doesn't exactly jump out at you, but Reid made it known that Watson is a valuable piece of the Chiefs' offense, especially since Brown is out with injury.

“He’s been a valuable guy,” Reid said of Watson . “Last year, heck, on third down, he did a tremendous job for us. [He’s] smart, can play all the different spots, can go all day, runs all day, runs like a deer. He’s been very valuable to us.”

With the Chiefs boasting a good receiver room and the additions of Worthy and Brown, Patrick Mahomes can go anywhere with the football. Travis Kelce, Watson, Kadarius Toney, Rashee Rice, Brown, Worthy, Mecole Hardman, and Skyy Moore make up Mahomes' weapons.

Watson was a crucial cog in the offense last season, in the playoffs. While he only caught six passes for 90 yards, four of those six catches went for first downs. So he was used sparingly, but when the ball came his way, good things happened.

As the Chiefs chase a third straight Super Bowl title, Watson will again be called upon in crucial situations, and given that it will be his third year with Mahomes and Reid, perhaps more is now expected of Watson going forward.

And we will see just how "valuable" Justin is to the offense.
