The Carolina Panthers tried to improve their secondary depth on Monday by signing cornerbacks Chris Wilcox and Quandre Mosely. This move comes in response to a recent wave of injuries that left the Panthers thin at the cornerback position. Head coach Dave Canales previously announced that starting cornerback Dane Jackson would be sidelined for approximately six weeks due to a hamstring injury. Additionally, Lamar Jackson and Anthony Brown exited Saturday's game against the Jets with injuries, further straining the Panthers' defensive backfield.

Wilcox, a 26-year-old out of BYU, was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round and has since had stints with the Colts, Cardinals, Steelers, and Chargers. Mosely, 25, who played college football at Eastern Arizona and Kentucky, has been a member of the Cowboys, Seahawks, Buccaneers, and Patriots.

The team also signed cornerback Willie Drew, wide receiver Sam Pinckney, and running back Jaden Shirden, who had previously participated in the Panthers' training camp earlier in the summer.

To accommodate these new additions, the Panthers made several roster moves. Anthony Brown and quarterback Jake Luton were placed on injured reserve, while Lamar Jackson and wide receiver Tayvion Robinson were waived with injury designations. Rookie running back Dillon Johnson who had a nice showing during Saturday’s preseason game against the New York Jets, was also waived.
