The New England Patriots made the difficult decision last week to move on from one of their best players and faces of the franchise in Matthew Judon .

Arriving to New England prior to the 2021 season, Judon has been among the most productive players in the league at his position since joining the team. Not only that, but as the team has entered a rebuild period, he has also become the most popular players in the locker room and among the fanbase.

The Patriots acquired a third-round selection from the Atlanta Falcons in return for Judon following an offseason in which the two sides could not agree to a contract extension. For as good as he's been, Judon just turned 32 and is coming off a season-ending injury, making the team not eager to pay him what he wanted. During an interview with CBS Boston on Monday, Judon issued a goodbye to the fans in New England who had grown so fond of his red sleeves over the years.

"I appreciate y’all for all the memories and everything y’all did for me. It’s not the way that we wanted and I’m sorry that my last play was a injury…as far as being fans and family, we’ll always be that," Judon said . "I’ll always be a fan of New England and Massachusetts because it done me so well…Hopefully y’all fans of mine wish me success, but I wish y’all nothing but success. And I’ll definitely be back to Foxborough. I’ll definitely be back…I just don’t know when."

It's a bittersweet feeling for Pats fans, but without a doubt the majority will wish Judon nothing but success in all of his future endeavors.
