With the 2024 NFL season around the corner, fans are gearing up for another entertaining campaign.

However, one major change is Apple controlling the treasured Sunday Ticket package many fans have enjoyed. On Monday, John Ourand of Puck.com mentioned that Apple began to sell Sunday Ticket on its app store with an eye-popping price.

"I noticed today that YouTube is making Sunday Ticket available via the Apple App Store, but was shocked by the price," Ourand wrote. "Consumers who sign up through the YouTube app on their iPhone or iPad will pay $679.99 annually. If they want to bundle NFL Sunday Ticket with NFL RedZone, it will cost $739.99 annually. Those prices via YouTube TV are $379 and $419, respectively."

For comparison, Sunday Ticket in 2023 was less than $400 total, so this is nearly double the price if fans go the route with the NFL RedZone package.

As such, NFL fans were not thrilled with the new price tag for NFL Sunday Ticket.

"$180 a month is crazy," one fan wrote on X. Another said, "The NFL has lost its mind. That is half the cost of a season ticket. Remember when it was free to watch football on Sundays from your own couch?"

Other fans chimed in as well. "This is absolutely RIDICULOUS," one fan wrote, with another saying, "These prices are crazy."

NFL fans also questioned the price point for Sunday Ticket. "It’s $489 just through the YouTube TV app. Even cheaper if you’re a YouTube TV subscriber. This makes zero sense…," one fan wrote. "The NFL is the only league that makes their service to catch every game insanely overpriced," another stated.

It's a massive jump up in price, and Apple includes a 30-percent fee for items on the app store, which is built into the price, as Ourand mentions.

According to the NFL, they don't set the pricing themselves, as Ourand mentioned: “The NFL does not control the pricing of Sunday Ticket and does not set or receive any additional fees associated with its sale.”

Still, it's a tough sell for NFL fans wanting to purchase Sunday Ticket, and more fans might explore other options to watch their teams play this season.
