Jets' Mike Williams Ready To Be 'Another Threat' On Offense

    By Adam Schultz,

It has been a long, hard grind for New York Jets receiver Mike Williams as he continues his rehab from an ACL injury.

With the Jets offense having an abundance of weapons for Aaron Rodgers to utilize, that's without Williams, who when healthy, is a matchup nightmare due to his size and speed.

But what can Jets fans expect from Williams once he gets on the field?

"Another playmaker," Williams said. "I feel like I can make plays whether it's down the field, between the hashes, outside the numbers. It doesn't matter, just make plays, be a physical guy in the run game and just add another element to the offense, another threat."

But with the Jets being cautious about Williams' return from his ACL injury, the receiver hasn't even participated in team drills yet, and we are only a few weeks away from the beginning of the regular season.

But Williams has an idea of when he will ramp up his return to the first team.

"I think next week I'm going to be doing some team stuff," Williams added. "Just getting into a rhythm of doing things with the team, lining up and going through some plays."

So Williams is edging ever closer to being full-go for New York, and his return gives the offense another dimension. With Garrett Wilson smaller in stature and quicker off the line, Williams is the hulking target who turns 50/50 balls into 70/30 balls for his quarterback.

Due to his size, Williams is a matchup nightmare on the Jets offense with Rodgers wheeling and dealing. However, he is an interesting prospect.

But for now, it's slow and steady for Williams, who is slowly ramping up his recovery in the hopes of being ready for Week 1.
