Andrew Thomas Restructured: What Are Giants Planning?

The New York Giants created cap space Monday afternoon thanks to restructuring the current contract of Pro Bowl left tackle Andrew Thomas.

The move, first reported by Field Yates of ESPN, created $3.34 million in cap space with $4.175 million of his base salary converted into a signing bonus. It now means that the Giants have a little over $18 million to spend going into the final two weeks before the start of the NFL season.

Now there's two things New York could do with this added money. They could, first, have their cap space roll over into 2025 to give them a little bit more breathing room next offseason.

    Seem like not enough?

Well the Giants could also look to improve their current roster with the addition of a defensive back or receiver -- two positions of concern for New York to this point.

The likes of Corey Davis, Michael Thomas, and Hunter Renfrow could entice a team like the Giants at receiver. Available cornerbacks include Xavien Howard, J.C. Jackson or even Adoree' Jackson -- who previously released by the team this offseason.

With over $18 million in space, the Giants can help their current roster in droves for the upcoming season. The only question left is for general Joe Schoen to answer.
