Anthony Edwards is one of the most skilled players in the NBA today. In a lot of ways, he's the prototype of the modern NBA combo guard. His athleticism, handle, and shot-making make the Minnesota Timberwolves star one of the top players in the league.

Edwards is also insanely confident, both in his play and his words. It's no surprise, then, that the Timberwolves star did not hold back in his take on the difference between his generation and the older generation.

In an interview for the Wall Street Journal, Edwards was asked how did his generation differ from the older generation. The Timberwolves star responded with a surprisingly strong take.

"I didn’t watch it back in the day so I can’t speak on it," Edwards said.  They say it was tougher back then than it is now, but I don’t think anybody had skill back then."

"[Michael Jordan] was the only one that really had skill, you know what I mean?" he continued. "So that’s why when they saw Kobe [Bryant], they were like, 'Oh, my God.' But now everybody has skill."

Well, that's a polarizing take. Once the quote hit social media, fans fired back at the star's comments.

Some pointed out that he should have stopped speaking after his first sentence.

Others resorted to giving their counter-examples, such as Hakeem Olajuwon.

This quote will likely elicit more reactions from legends of the game. While the overarching point is at least debatable, Ant's "nobody had skill except for MJ" sentiment will garner a lot of negative reactions.

For his part, Edwards is doing his best to back up his talk. He averaged nearly 26 points per game last season as the leader of an upstart Timberwolves team. He's one of the rising stars of the league.
