Deuce Knight has been one of the hottest names in recruiting for the last month. Numerous teams have been attempting to flip the Notre Dame commit for a long while now, and it appears with some news this Monday, Auburn's chances are getting better.

Knight initially committed to the Fighting Irish on September 18th, 2023. Per Rivals' timeline of prospect rankings, the #2 player in Mississippi made the decision after a meteoric rise from the 194th overall recruit to 54th by the end of July 2023. Ever since then there has been an ongoing effort to wrestle his talents away from South Bend, the two most notable being Ole Miss and Auburn.

Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting for 247sports, said Knight had an "elite physical profile" but that he needed polish for the college level. His athletic testing numbers are among the nation's best, especially for his position. He posted a 4.53 laser-timed 40 yard dash, a 41.9 inch vertical, and a 4.39 second shuttle time. The average 40 time for all QBs at the 2024 NFL combine was 4.78 seconds, placing a player not even out of high school yet in the upper echelon of his position in terms of speed. Ivins goes on to say that "[Knight] Will create when protection breaks down and look to extend plays, but has also shown that he’s willing to stand in the pocket and take a hit." He continues, calling him a lottery ticket in the 2025 class with a ton of potential, but with some development required as a passer.

With a decision expected near the end of August it would not be surprising to see a flip shortly before, during, or immediately following his visit should everything go well for his 2nd visit in just over a month.
