Drake Maye's Jaw-Dropping 83-Yard Throw At North Carolina Resurfaces

With New England Patriots rookie Drake Maye progressing at a fast rate, some of his more iconic videos have resurfaced on the internet, including one during a workout at North Carolina, where he threw a ball 83 yards that nailed the opposing crossbar.

Maye was historically good at the collegiate level. During his two seasons with the Tar Heels , he threw for 8,018 yards and a 63 touchdown to 16 interception ratio. His QB rating ended at 154.1. Completing over 60% of his passes during the three seasons he was with the Tar Heels. However, he didn't play much in 2021 as a true freshman.

Now he has begun to create an interesting storyline in New England over who first-time head coach Jerod Mayo should start at quarterback week one. Throughout camp and now two weeks into preseason, Maye has been looked at as the better option. However, at the beginning it seemed like Jacoby Brissett was the clear-cut option.

However, throwing him to the fire from the get-go could be a recipe for disaster if he struggles out the gate. Then you have to weigh other options while trying not to derail his confidence.

Nonetheless, Maye has shown off his arm throughout college, and we even got a glimpse of it during the Patriots last preseason game. But throwing the ball 83 yards may compete with his teammate Joe Milton , whose arm talent is well known.
