Bills' Cole Bishop Limited in Training Camp Practice

The Buffalo Bills finally had some positive injury news coming out of practice as safety Cole Bishop returned to practice Tuesday.

After missing three weeks with a shoulder injury, the rookie returned to the field wearing a red, non-contact jersey, according to multiple reports. Despite not practicing in full capacity, it is an encouraging sign for the Bills defense who desperately need some help at the safety position.

Prior to Bishop returning, the team was also missing offseason signing Mike Edwards with a hamstring injury. Additionally, the team is expecting veteran Damar Hamlin to miss some time with a hamstring problem. Hamlin was filling in at the starting safety position alongside Taylor Rapp with Bishop and Edwards out.

While it's still unclear if Bishop will be healthy enough to take the field when the regular season begins, or if he'll even earn a starting spot at that point, Bishop will have over two weeks to practice with the team and hopefully get up to speed.

Bishop, a second-round pick out of Utah in the 2024 draft, was the Bills' second selection in the draft after Keon Coleman. Bishop was an especially important addition to the team after the departures of Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde in the offseason.

While Bishop almost certainly won't play in the Bills' final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, fans can hope to see him take the field in the team's regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 8.
