The Auburn Tigers may be on the verge of landing their quarterback of the future.

Deuce Knight, a 4-star quarterback and current Notre Dame commit, has scheduled a visit with the Tigers for August 31st, the same day as Auburn's season opener vs the Alabama A&M Bulldogs. On3's Steve Wiltfong and Jeffrey Lee have both logged a prediction for Knight to flip his commitment to Auburn. Wiltfong dropped his prediction earlier this month, and now Lee is joining him.

"Knight, who attends George County High School in Lucedale, Miss., committed to the Irish nearly a year ago (Sept. 18)," Lee wrote. "His recruitment seemingly died down soon after and remained that way for months. However, a recent push from Auburn and Hugh Freeze has change that dramatically."

The 6-foot-4, 208-pound QB is ranked as the No. 33 overall prospect, No. 7 quarterback, and No. 2 player in the state of Mississippi, according to On3's industry rankings. He split his junior season playing for two high schools (Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN, George County in Lucedale, MS). Knight believes he showed growth between his sophomore and junior seasons.

"I felt like in my sophomore season, I left the pocket quick – as soon as any pressure came," Knight told Mike Singer of BlueandGold.com "Also, I was trying to make more sound throws – not just making off-balanced throws when I don’t have to do that. As a quarterback, you think you can make any throw, but I wanted to be better in my mechanics instead of making off-platform throws. Everyone knows I can run. But can I sit there and make the throws? And I know I can do that. I’m glad I got to show people that.”

If Auburn can flip Knight away from the Fighting Irish, he would be an incredible player to add as the Tigers build towards the future.

"With the push from Auburn and the reciprocated interest from Knight, the Tigers appear to be in a very good spot to flip him," Lee wrote. "I think it’s more likely to happen than not.

I’ve joined Wiltfong in predicting it will happen and done so with a 65% confidence level."
